Xscape First Week Sales (EN)

« By now, we know that many of you have seen all of the charts around the world. We are so proud of the way that the MJ fan community has rallied to support Michael and his legacy by buying Xscape. The events that you organized were outstanding, and the posts, tweets, Instagrams, blogs, and other messages encouraging friends and family to buy, along with your purchases of multiple copies of the album were instrumental in selling as many units as we did. While we were disappointed that the record fell just short of claiming Michael’s 7th #1 on the  Billboard chart, the album is number one in many territories and is the #1 album in overall worldwide sales, a feat we are extremely proud of.  It’s a new world out there, and the fact that Xscape remains #1 on Spotify and Rhapsody and that the « Love Never Felt So Good » video is #1 on iTunes and in the Top 20 at YouTube cannot be ignored. The world has rallied again behind Michael’s music, and we, as a community, should be proud of the album’s performance this week. We’re only just getting started! » – The Estate of MJ

Statement from the MJ Estate (EN + FR)

Although it is not possible for the Estate to bring legal action to stop the
broadcast of the program about the autopsy performed on Michael, the Executors want
Michael’s fans to know that letters have been sent to the broadcaster and station
owner expressing the Estate’s disgust at those who heartlessly work to profit from
the most banal, salacious details of Michael’s death. In part, the letter from John
Branca and John McClain asks Channel 5 to show good taste and common decency by
canceling Tuesday’s planned airing of Autopsy: Michael Jackson’s Last Hours. The
letter also states: « Despite Channel 5’s cynical and disingenuous promotions
claiming Autopsy ‘separates fact from fiction,’ it is nothing more than another
sleazy tabloid program exploiting Michael’s tragic and untimely death…..Separating
‘fact from fiction,’ the Michael Jackson his friends and family knew was a loving
father, a global entertainment icon and humanitarian devoted to making the world
better. His children do not deserve to see their father’s death callously exploited
out of greed because a new TV series desperately wants to attract viewers. »

The Executors share the fans hope that Channel 5 show the good judgment to cancel
the broadcast of this distasteful program.

Statement from the Estate

Many of you have sent us articles this weekend about Michael, from the Mirror and other UK-based tabloid magazines. Here is the response from the Co-Executors of the Estate to the nonsense:
« As MJ said, just because you read it in a magazine does not make it factual…we personally detest these supposed news organizations that profit at Michael’s expense. We hope the fans can stay vigilant with us in protecting Michael’s legacy. We hope everyone has the opportunity to see the MJ ONE show…that’s the real Michael. »
Thank you for remaining vigilant with the Estate in protecting Michael’s Legacy.

Communiqué de l’Estate of Michael Jackson

General On sale Begins March 7

Las Vegas, February 21, 2013 – The Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil today unveiled that Michael Jackson ONE™ will open and take residency exclusively at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino this summer. Directed by Jamie King, Michael Jackson ONE will start its preview performances on May 23, 2013 and have its official premiere on June 29, 2013. This entirely new show is the second creative project to be developed between Cirque du Soleil and The Estate of Michael Jackson after the top grossing Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, currently playing arenas in Europe as it travels the world.

The show
Michael Jackson ONE is a state-of-the-art visual and audio experience creating a theatrical evocation of Michael’s creative genius. Guided and inspired by his music, four misfits set out on a transformative adventure. By journey’s end, they will personify Michael’s agility, courage, playfulness and love.

The name
Michael Jackson believed that all people are unique and equal, regardless of race or culture. His message was one of unity, harmony and hope for a better world. At once evocative and enigmatic, the name Michael Jackson ONE also presents a paradox: Michael was a multifaceted artist who strove to fuse together various musical styles and art forms. It is a fitting title for a unifying journey into the world of the King of Pop, the genius, the visionary, the One.

“This is our second project with the Estate of Michael Jackson which confirms how stimulating this creative partnership was meant to be”, said Daniel Lamarre, President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil. “Michael Jackson is an all-time phenomenal artist, both timeless and contemporary. As a creative challenge, this project is the ultimate. Through the use of cutting edge technology, we will produce a new Cirque du Soleil theatrical experience not only respectful of Michael’s legacy but also very distinctive from Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour.”

“We are guided by Michael’s own philosophy in all that we do. In preparing for this production, Michael’s message to the cast and crew for his This Is It concerts was foremost in our minds. He counseled them on what the audience experience should be: ‘They want wonderful experiences. We want to take them places that they’ve never been before. We want to show them talent like they’ve never seen before. We’re putting love back into the world to remind the world that love is important. WE’RE ALL ONE. That is the message. ’ We feel the same, and that is what we are delivering both to lifelong fans and those just discovering his artistic genius with Michael Jackson ONE,” stated John Branca and John McClain, Co-Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson.

Chuck Bowling, Mandalay Bay’s president and COO, said, “The partnership with Cirque du Soleil and The Estate of Michael Jackson represents an extraordinary moment for Mandalay Bay. We are in the midst of a major transformation at this resort, introducing a new set of experiences for our guests. Michael Jackson ONE is truly the crown jewel in that transformation and we cannot wait to share this very special production with the world.”

Along with Jamie King—who started his career as a dancer on Michael’s Dangerous World Tour and also directed the arena touring show Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour by Cirque du Soleil—, Michael Jackson ONE will bring together the creative minds behind the Michael Jackson Estate, John Branca and John McClain, and the diverse talents of the following creators (creators’ bios are available on Cirque du Soleil’s press room at

Announcement From The Estate Of Michael Jackson

For those of you who haven’t already figured it out based on the posts on the official MJ pages the last couple of days, there will be a press announcement on Thursday to reveal the name of the new Michael Jackson/Cirque du Soleil show which will live at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the date of the premiere and the on-sale date for tickets (including a pre-sale to newsletter subscribers). It is a completely new show – not Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour. Check or any of the official MJ social media pages for details on Thursday.

Statement from the Estate (EN)

We understand that loyal MJ fans are reacting to the article that appeared in the New Yorker questioning the sales of Michael’s “Thriller” album. Let’s state this for the record: “Thriller” has sold MORE THAN 100,000,000 ALBUMS WORLDWIDE. In addition, the number of singles sold cannot even be tallied. It is far and away the largest selling album in record industry history which, ironically, the same reporter noted in the December issue of the same magazine. Quite frankly, we are unaware of the credentials of the blogger in the New Yorker, and point out that it is his opinion only, and not based on the facts of the extraordinary 30-year sales history of Michael’s masterpiece.
